Teamwork: A simple question for a brighter outlook

Emily knew her team needed shoring up. Anticipated changes were creating anxiety. And noticeable negativity.

Emily devoted more time to being a cheerleader. Her efforts got her team through the transition, yet the negativity continued. What else could she do?

I suggested she add one question to the agenda for her team meetings:

“What’s new and good in your life?”

Connections followed.

“I love pizza! What’s the name of the restaurant again?”

“Your wife still loves you after 32 years together? What’s your secret?”

“Can I purchase five boxes of thin mints from your daughter?”

“You’re taking your family to Gatlinburg for spring break? We went last year and I can give you some tips if you’d like.”
